Behind The door Project

 

Over view: Over the past 3 weeks, I have been working on creating this behind the door environment project. The environment has been modelled within 80,000 triangles utilizing 2x2048x2048 PBR textures. The environment is set up and rendered using unreal Engine 4, furthermore it is also playable.

  • Fire used in the level is not mine

  • The environment design is based of ‘The Door 1’ by Eric Bassiletti’

  • Smoke sub UV was not created by me however, I altered it from the original and attempted to create my own

  • The grass plane texture is not mine but I altered it from the original

  • I took heavy inspiration for the effects of my level from the particle effects cave/ elemental demo/ strategy game and the forge from UE4.

  •  

Conclusion:

For Bullet points for

  • Time Management was Poor for this project

  • Aspiration to do well lead to a lack of focus and exhaustion

  • Inexperience of creating an environment- lead to many self-inflicted issues, such as lack of planning, lack of understanding the pipeline which caused delays an inefficiencies

  • Lack of work/ life balance-

  • Lack of documentation of progress and action

What Am I proud of/ learn?

  • Attempt to make an environment despite being a character artist

  • Learning hard surface sculpting of organic clay

  • Improved my ability to create materials in ue4 – ice

  • Cam feed

  • Improved my knowledge of lighting in unreal engine 4

  • Worked on a project to benefit my final major project

  • Worked out of my comfort zone.
