Project Title: Realistic Helmeted Character Project

Over the past 3 weeks, I have been working on the realistic helmeted character project and this documentation should demonstrate my production process throughout the project.

For the helmeted character project, we were tasked to create a full ‘Non Playable Character’ demonstration a display of real world clothing (metal, fabric etc.) as well as a portraying the character with a sense of personality and individuality.

The character needs to be modelled within 30,000 triangles and textured using 2x 2048x2048 targas. Furthermore aside from proper project management the character must also be presented in real time format, using tools such as Sketchfab, Marmoset Toolbag or Unreal Engine 4. The purpose of the project is to demonstrate that we could work to a realistic brief; collect and use reference for inspiration; demonstrate convincing PBR texturing and demonstrate game readiness by rendering the character in a real-time environment.

I began the project reading the brief thoroughly and highlighting key points, as

in the past I have made silly errors from misinterpreting the project brief. Following, I began collecting a number of interesting images of characters using Pinterest.

I chose to recreate this character in 3d as historical figures has always been a subject that has fascinated me. Similarly, creating this character would give me a great opportunity to practice Anatomy, hard surface and fabric sculpting which are elements that Character artist Del Walker want me to practice.
